How to capture discountsFollow

It's is common practice to offer customers discounts, e.g. "3 for 2 on selected items" or "5% off with this promo code" and this is captured through the use of the following pixels:

When a discount is placed on a particular product, e.g. "3 for 2" offers, the following field needs be added to the purchased pixel:

Parameter Information Captured Required format of parameter values
product_line_discount The discount applied to the purchase of one of more units of a given product   float, 2 d.p.

Continue the example of our setup guide, here is how a "3 for 2" offer on Ralph Lauren Belt's would be captured:

<img src="//e.visualdna.com/conversion?api_key=mensclothes1234&id=purchased&product_id=987&product_name=Ralph%20Lauren%20Belt&product_category_id=5664&product_category=belts&product_price=100.00&product_quantity=3&currency=GBP&transaction_id=123&product_line_discount=100.00" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

product_price = 100.00
product_quantity = 3
product_line_discount = 100.00

Revenue to company = (product_price * product_quantity) - product_line_discount
Revenue to company = 100.00 * 3 - 100.00 = 200.00

Worked example when there is no discount on a product:

<img src="//e.visualdna.com/conversion?api_key=mensclothes1234&id=purchased&product_id=987&product_name=Ralph%20Lauren%20Belt&product_category_id=5664&product_category=belts&product_price=100.00&product_quantity=3&currency=GBP&transaction_id=123&product_line_discount=0.00" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

product_price = 100.00
product_quantity = 3
product_line_discount = 0.00

Revenue to company = (product_price * product_quantity) - product_line_discount
Revenue to company = 100.00 * 3 - 0.00 = 300.00

When a discount is applied to an entire transaction, e.g. when using promo codes, the following field needs be to added to the purchased pixel:

Parameter Information Captured Required format of parameter values
transaction_discount The discount amount applied to an entire transaction float, 2 d.p.

Continue the example of our setup guide, here is how a "£20 off purchases over £50" promo offer would work:

<img src="//e.visualdna.com/conversion?api_key=mensclothes1234&id=transaction&transaction_id=123&value=170&currency=GBP&payment_type=debit_card&transaction_discount=20.00" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

value = 170.00
transaction_discount = 20.00

Revenue to company = value - transaction_discount
Revenue to company = 170.00 - 20.00
Revenue to company = 150.00

Worked example of when there is no discount applied to an entire transaction:

<img src="//e.visualdna.com/conversion?api_key=mensclothes1234&id=transaction&transaction_id=123&value=170&currency=GBP&payment_type=debit_card&transaction_discount=0.00" width="1" height="1" alt="" />

value = 170.00
transaction_discount = 0.00

Revenue to company = value - transaction_discount
Revenue to company = 170.00 - 0.00
Revenue to company = 170.00
