It’s important to note that we do not sell any of the data we collect on individuals and we collect data from partner websites solely to understand and segment their audience. What we actually sell is the ability for an advertiser to reach an individual on a website using a segment that we create from the 300M+ profiles that we have globally.
At no point will the advertiser see who that person is or any personally identifiable information (PII). The only thing available is the VisualDNA categorization that has been applied to them.
VisualDNA does NOT collect any PII for advertising purposes, nor do we sell or provide access to any of our underlying data to any third party. Partner and consumer trust is critical to our business, and we will NOT do anything to compromise it.
We offer everyone the opportunity to opt out of our tracking.
- In the UK, this is via IAB’s YourOnlineChoices
- in the US, it is available via Evidon
- Alternatively, via our own tool at http://www.my.visualdna.com.
It’s also worth adding that VisualDNA’s profiling and tracking of a user will not detract from their internet experience in any way. They will not see a higher volume of advertising or aggressive popups – the only difference is that the ads they do see as a result of our targeting will be better tailored to who they are and what they are interested in.
